The ethico-legal aspects of neurosurgery are of paramount importance in today’s rapidly evolving medical landscape. As we witness unprecedented advancements in technology and neuroscience, neurosurgeons face increasingly complex ethical dilemmas and legal challenges that require careful consideration and informed decision-making. By fostering discussions among professionals, researchers, and industry partners, we can develop best practices that not only enhance patient outcomes but also establish a framework for ethical decision-making in neurosurgery. This dialogue is essential for promoting accountability, transparency, and integrity within our field.

Dear colleagues, dear friends,

As President of SeENS, I am honoured and delighted to invite you to the 11th SNSS Annual Meeting that will take place in Novi Sad, Serbia, between 23 and 26 October 2025. The meeting organized by the Serbian Neurosurgical Society addresses both its national members and neurosurgeons all over Europe and worldwide. For this meeting, SNSS has partnered with the SeENS and the EANS Ethico-legal Committee to address a critical facet of neurosurgery, namely "Ethico- legal aspects of neurosurgery in the 21st century: challenges and opportunities".

SeENS took shape more than 12 years ago as a result of the remarkable efforts of several enthusiastic and authentic road-openers, such as our friends Lukas Rasulic, Kresimir Rotim, and Tomislav Sajko, as well as many other leaders of their national societies who have brought their extraordinary contribution and experience to the continuous growth and development of SeENS. Nowadays, SeENS is considered one of the most active regional societies, a recognized member of EANS and WFNS, thoroughly involved in developing regional, scientific and professional cooperation, but mainly dedicated to educating new generations of neurosurgeons.

Along with SNSS, we wish to contribute to the constant development of neurosurgery on a regional and international level, especially in the context of the rapid transformation and emergence of new technologies where collaboration and adaptation become of utmost importance. I am confident that the scientific program will provide a comprehensive overview of the latest research, advancements, and breakthroughs in neurosurgery, here within the ethico-legal aspects included, so that we can provide our patients with the best possible care.

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I invite you to participate in this meeting, take advantage of the shared knowledge and expertise, and also use this opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and build lasting professional relationships.

Best regards,

Prof. Ioan Stefan Florian, MD, PhD
SeENS President, Honorary President of the Meeting
